12 Blue Coach: Emma Huntey
Emma is from West Chester, Ohio and is a 2017 graduate from Lakota East High School. She went to study at the University of Cincinnati, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Biology. Currently, she's working on her Master's Degree in Veterinary Public Health. Emma has been playing volleyball since age 12 for both school and club teams. She mainly played as a middle hitter, but she also played doubles in sand.In college, she participated in competitive intramurals and continues to play in sand leagues with her former club teammates. This year, she’s excited to join CYVBC Surge after coaching club volleyball for three years. Emma can’t wait to meet the players and have a great season with 12 Blue!

13 Black Coach: Kylee Howard
Kylee is from Cincinnati, Ohio and a 2017 Oak Hills High School graduate. She is also a graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s in Business Economics with a minor in Political Science. Kylee has been playing volleyball since 3rd grade and began playing competitively in 7th grade. She played club volleyball while also playing at Oak Hills High School. Kylee played on the Junior Varsity team her freshman year and Varsity team her sophomore, junior and senior years. Kylee looks forward to advancing the athlete's skill level to get them ready for 8th grade while also developing their social and academic skills. She’s excited for her sixth year of coaching, especially with 13 Black!

13 Blue Coach: Emma Holscher
Emma is from Cincinnati, Ohio and currently goes to the University of Cincinnati where she is studying middle school education. She has been playing volleyball since 4th grade and in her free time outside of coaching, she plays sand volleyball at Grand Sands in Loveland with Coach Adam and her 2 sisters! When Emma used to play indoor, she was mainly a setter but throughout her years of playing experience, she played all of the positions and she is excited to be able to help each individual player with their skills. This is Emma’s second season with CYVBC Surge, fourth year coaching altogether. Emma is so excited to show her passion and love for the sport, and is hoping to give all of the knowledge and love to her girls! She has coached all ages ranging from 9-16 years old and is looking forward to coaching 13 Blue and 15 Grey this season!

13 Grey Coach: Adam Hensley
Adam Hensley is from Loveland, Ohio. He has been around volleyball all of his life, playing from the 4th grade up to two years at Milford high school. This is his second-year coaching at Surge, while spending two years coaching football and volleyball at the middle school level. In his free time Adam enjoys playing sand volleyball with coach Emma at Grand Sands in Loveland, watching his favorite sports teams. Bengals (Who Dey!) and UK football and exploring new places with friends. Adam is a very passionate coach and wants to instill his players with tools they can use on and off the court, while having the ability to overcome obstacles, work through adversity, and to be able to recognize their growth over the season and be proud of all the hard work they put in to get where they are now. Adam is excited to be the head coach of 13 Grey and the assistant on 15 Grey and can’t wait for the great season!

14 Blue Coach: Kaity Truman
Kaity is from Genoa, Ohio and is a 2022 Genoa Area High School graduate. Kaity is a current student at Miami University studying Sports Leadership and Management as well as General Business. She played volleyball for 8 years, playing club for 3, as well as division three volleyball for Wilmington College before transferring to Miami in the Spring of 2023. Kaity has coached for her high schools 3rd-6th grade teams! She is looking forward to her second season with Surge! She cannot wait for a great season with 14 Blue.

14 Grey Coach: Natalie West
Natalie is from Ross, Ohio and is a 2022 Ross High School graduate. Natalie is currently studying at the University of Cincinnati earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She played volleyball for 10 years, playing competitively for 8! Natalie also played at the varsity level as a starter for all 4 years of high school. She has been with Surge since 2017, counting 6 seasons as a player and 2 seasons as a coach! This 2025 season will be Natalie’s 3rd season as a coach and she is excited for the season to start!

15 Black Coach: Katherine Bedel
Katherine is from Oldenburg, Indiana and is a 2021 Batesville High School graduate. At BHS, Katherine was a four-year varsity letter winner, two-time Academic All-State recipient, and named to the EIAC All-Conference, All-District and All-Region teams. Katherine competed for the Southeastern Indiana Volleyball Club for six years, going undefeated on the 18-Elite team in 2020. Post-graduation, Katherine studied at Lincoln Memorial University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Pre-Medicine with a minor in Chemistry in 2024. At LMU, Katherine competed in NCAA Division II indoor and beach volleyball for four years, serving as team Captain for three seasons. She was also named to the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll four times and was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. Also during her tenure there, Katherine tallied four years of USA/JVA refereeing experience as well as Sports Broadcasting experience for the NCAA DI Men’s Volleyball program. Katherine graduated college early and is using the Spring semester to build coaching skills and continue work as a dental assistant before attending dental school in July 2025. This is Katherine’s first year with CYVBC Surge! She hopes to help her team develop into strong, independent young women on and off the court (as well as answer any college recruiting questions). Katherine looks forward to getting to know the athletes and staff, and to become part of the 15 Black / CYVBC Surge family!

15 Black Coach: Jessica Schloemer
Jessica is from Cincinnati, Ohio and is a 2017 Oak Hills High School graduate. Jessica studied at Thomas More University earning her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, with a focus in Sports Marketing in 2022. She played volleyball for 9 years, playing competitively for 6! She has been with Surge since 2017, and is also the Club Director! Jessica has coached in the OHSAA, OVR, GGCL, CHL, and GWAC. 3 of Jessica's CYVBC Surge teams have won the OVR Championship: 12 Blue in 2021, 13 Blue and 14 Blue in 2022. Her 14 Black team were the 14-National OVR Runner-Ups and also placed 3rd in GOLD at the USAV Girls Junior National Championships (14 American) in 2023! Her 2024 14 Black team just competed at AAU Nationals in Orlando, FL where they went 8-3 in the 14 Premier division. She was the varsity assistant coach at Finneytown High School in 2019 and is proud to share that she was a part of a record breaking season with the most wins in 10 years! Jessica was the freshmen head coach at Seton High School in Cincinnati, where she went 40-3. For two seasons in a row, the freshmen team won the GGCL league for the regular season. For the past two seasons Jessica has been the head coach of the junior varsity team at Seton High School! Her 2023 team were the GGCL league champions, only dropping one match all season. Her current 2024 team went 20-1, undefeated (19-0) in the regular season! They went 8-0 in the GGCL making them GGCL league champions. At Seton, Jessica is also the Varsity Assistant! This year (2024), they won the OHSAA Division 1 State Championship at Wright State!! Jessica is looking forward to the floating assistant position with both 15 Black and 17 Black. She looks forward to being able to work with all CYVBC Surge teams alongside our amazing staff this upcoming 2024-2025 season! We are looking forward to a groundbreaking year.

15 Blue Coach: Sydney (Syd) Geibel
Sydney (Coach Syd) was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She started her volleyball career in the fourth grade and played a total of 12 years, 10 of which were competitive. She went to Wilmington College and got her BA in Education Studies with a focus in teaching and learning. While there, she played volleyball as a starting pin/DS. This will be Coach Syd’s first year at CYVBC but her second year as a club volleyball coach. Coach Syd is excited to meet the players of 15 Blue as well as all the other Surge athletes.

15 Blue Coach: Olivia (Liv) Langefeld
Olivia is from Lawrenceburg, Indiana but now lives in northern Kentucky. She graduated from East Central High School in 2018, then graduated from UC with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing in 2022. Olivia has been playing volleyball competitively for ten years, five of which were at the collegiate level at UC Clermont. She was a utility hitter, but primarily played outside hitter and middle blocker during her college career. She helped lead her team to win the USCAA Division II National Championship in 2021! Olivia has been playing in competitive sand volleyball leagues since graduating. She has been a coach at Surge since 2021, but has been coaching club since 2019. Olivia is looking forward to an exciting season with 16 Grey!

Tim has been married for >20 years with 4 daughters, all whom play volleyball, as well as his wife. All four of his daughters played club volleyball, high school volleyball, and some college volleyball. This includes 3 of his daughters playing for CYVBC Surge at a point in time. Tim is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and a native Cincinnatian. Tim’s been playing in competitive volleyball indoor and outdoor men’s and coed leagues for more than 20 years. He has coached in the OHSAA, OVR, GCL, GMC, GWAC, and OHYA leagues for over 15 years. Tim started as the coordinator and lead coach of the Saint Jude girls volleyball program for 5 years overseeing more than 150 players annually with more than 15 coaches. During that time, he also started a girls indoor summer volleyball league that still competes today. Tim’s been coaching at CYVBC Surge for almost 10 years, where his teams have consistently placed in the top 5 in the OVR and have won multiple OVR Championships in Columbus, OH. He also coached for 6 years at Saint Xavier High School in the GCL where he was on the coaching staff for the 2019 Ohio State DI State Championship. In addition, Tim also coached boys club volleyball. His 17-1 boys club team earned a bid to qualify for competition at the 2020 USAV National Championship in Reno, NV (which was canceled due to COVID). Tim is looking forward to another great season at CYVBC Surge!

Ashley is a 2018 graduate from Oak Hills High School! Ashley was a dual athlete playing both volleyball and soccer. Ashley played 6 years of club volleyball, and has been playing in rec and sand leagues ever since! Ashley’s past coaching experience is with youth players, so she’s very excited to bring her skills to the high school level. Ashley has been working in the background with Surge since 2020 while being in college at Thomas More full-time, and is very excited to officially begin her Surge coaching journey! Ashley is hard-working and competitive, but knows when to have fun. As a college athlete, she looks forward to helping the girls with their recruiting journeys! She is excited to meet the players of 16 Black, and looks forward to a great season ahead.

16 Blue Coach: Katlyn Voelker
Katlyn is from Cincinnati, Ohio and is a 2018 Taylor High School graduate. Katlyn studied at Thomas More University where she played one year of volleyball before transferring to UC.
She played volleyball competitively for 11 years and has been coaching volleyball for 6 years. She has coached at Taylor for 3 years as the 8th grade coach and is currently their varsity assistant. Her 8th grade teams at Taylor have won the CHL Championship in 2022 with an undefeated record and were the runner ups in 2023. This is her 3rd year coaching at Surge and she is so excited to get the season started! |

16 Blue Coach: Madison (Madi) Illing
Madi is from Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Taylor High School in 2018. She graduated from University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences. She currently attends Xavier University in their Occupational Therapy Doctorate program. Madi has played volleyball since 5th grade. She played on her varsity team for 4 years and played club throughout high school. She coached at Taylor High School as their assistant varsity coach for 6 seasons. This is her 1st year coaching at Surge and she is excited to meet everyone and get the season started!

17 Black Coach: T'Keyah Grier
T’Keyah was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She is a triple University of Cincinnati alumna where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Science, Master of Public Health degree, and PhD degree in public health education. She is also currently working at the university as the program director of her organization and as adjunct faculty at UC’s Blue Ash campus. T'Keyah has played volleyball since she was in 6th grade. She played on her high school varsity team for three years and played club volleyball throughout high school and some of college. Although she no longer plays competitively, she enjoys playing in her spare time. This will be her 7th season coaching with Surge. This past season, her 15 Grey team placed 2nd in gold at the ASICS Nationals and placed 2nd in gold at Nike MEQs. She is also the JVA coach at Oak Hills High School. T'Keyah looks forward to meeting all of the players and can’t wait to see what this season holds for all of the teams!

17 Black Coach: Madison Beebe
Madison grew up in Crestview Hills, KY, and is a 2016 graduate of Holy Cross High School. She attended Thomas More University, where she played collegiate volleyball and received her Bachelor’s in Athletic Training in 2020. Madison played volleyball for 13 years total, playing club competitively for 9 years and collegiately for 4. She previously coached club volleyball at a few different levels, ranging from 11s through 17s over the years. In 2021, she served as the program director and head coach for the varsity volleyball team at Beechwood HS (Ft. Mitchell). In 2022, she coached JV volleyball at her alma mater, Holy Cross HS. Madison is currently back in school for nursing seeking her RN degree with plans to graduate in May 2025. Madison looks forward to her first year with CYVBC Surge and can’t wait to meet 17 Black!

17 Blue Coach: Derrik Gouveia
Derrik was born and raised in Rhode Island. He has been around volleyball his whole life and has grown a passion for the sport. He has played competitively for 6 years, including 4 years in high school and 2 years at the collegiate level, one of which was a memorable 2nd place finish in the NECVL. His coaching journey began with high school teams, where he coached both boys and girls 3 seasons each - notably, assisting his 2016 girls varsity team to the RI D2 State Championships. His coaching philosophy centers around effort and mindset, instilling in his players the importance of both physical and mental preparation. Derrik is a competitor and he emphasizes personal development within his teams. His 16 Blue team finished 2nd overall in Gold at ASICS Nationals last year. He aspires to bring out the best in his players both on and off the court and looks forward to a second successful season as a Surge coach!
