The CYVBC Surge coaching staff is made up of experienced, passionate, and dedicated leaders who are committed to helping every athlete grow on and off the court. Our coaches bring years of competitive playing experience combined with extensive coaching backgrounds across USAV/OVR, OHSAA, GGCL, CHL, GWAC, and more. Many of our staff are/were college athletes, club alumni, and educators, with a deep understanding of the game, player development, and teamwork. They have a proven track record of success and they focus not only on volleyball skills but also on building confidence, resilience, and a love for the sport. Whether working with our youngest players or preparing older athletes for college, our coaches strive to create a supportive and challenging environment where every player can grow, achieve, and take pride in their progress. With a combined passion, experience, and dedication, the Surge coaching team is ready to make the 2025-2026 season an exciting and rewarding year for all players!

Hannah joins the Surge coaching staff with over 8 years of playing experience at both the school and club level. In addition to her playing background, she brings 4 years of refereeing and coaching experience within the OVR, giving her a well-rounded perspective of the game.
Hannah is currently a junior at Xavier University, where she is pursuing her Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree before continuing on to higher education. She also plays as a setter on Xavier’s club volleyball team, keeping her skills sharp and connected to the game she loves. This past summer, Hannah worked with Surge athletes through camps and clinics, and she is eager to continue that momentum into the upcoming season. She is excited to help her athletes grow on and off the court, and she looks forward to the opportunities this year will bring! |

Deejay joins the Surge coaching staff with over a decade of volleyball experience, beginning her journey at just 12 years old. With years of playing at both the school and club levels, she brings a deep understanding of the game and a lifelong passion for volleyball.
Originally from Texas, Deejay is a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, The Ohio State University, and the University of Cincinnati, and now calls Cincinnati home. Her diverse educational background and long-standing connection to the sport give her a well-rounded perspective both on and off the court. Deejay is excited to return to coaching and bring her energy, positivity, and commitment to athlete development into the season. She looks forward to helping her players grow in skill, confidence, and character throughout the year! |
12 Black Head Coach: Kylee Howard

Kylee is a Cincinnati native and a 2017 graduate of Oak Hills High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics with a minor in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati.
Kylee has been playing volleyball since 3rd grade and began competing at the club level in 7th grade. At Oak Hills, she was a four-year athlete, playing on the Junior Varsity team as a freshman and contributing to the Varsity team during her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. Now entering her seventh year of coaching at Surge, Kylee is passionate about helping athletes grow both on and off the court. She looks forward to developing players’ volleyball skills as they prepare for 7th grade while also encouraging their social and academic growth. Kylee is especially excited to lead the 12 Black team this season! |

Kyleigh is from Toledo, Ohio where she graduated at Toledo School for the Arts in 2022. She went on to earn her Associate of Science degree with a concentration in Exercise Science from Owens State Community College in 2024. Currently, she is pursuing both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Athletic Training at the University of Cincinnati, with an anticipated graduation in 2027.
Kyleigh’s volleyball career began at Start High School, where she was a varsity athlete and a two-time City League Champion. Following graduation, she returned to Start High as the Freshman Head Coach and JV/Varsity Assistant Coach, leading her team to a City League Championship in her first year of coaching. She also contributed to the development of the school’s boys club volleyball program, serving as an assistant coach during its inaugural season. Now entering her fourth season of coaching overall and her second season with CYVBC Surge, Kyleigh is passionate about helping athletes develop their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship both on and off the court. She looks forward to a successful and rewarding season ahead. |
12 Blue Coach: Emma Vomero

Coach Emma joins the Surge family for her first season and will serve as the head coach for the 12 Blue team. Emma has been involved in volleyball since 5th grade, competing through high school at the club, school, and sand levels. She played elite club volleyball, beginning at a smaller club before transferring to AVC, and brings experience as both a setter and defensive specialist.
Emma began coaching through youth, middle school, and high school camps, sparking a passion for teaching the game and creating a fun, positive experience for young athletes. She has also served as an assistant varsity coach at her former high school. Emma emphasizes energy, encouragement, and keeping the game enjoyable while helping players build confidence and strong fundamental skills. She is excited to work with the 12 Blue athletes and be part of their development on and off the court! |

Lauren is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a graduate of Oak Hills High School. She began playing volleyball in 3rd grade and went on to compete at both the school and club levels for 5 years.
Most recently, Lauren served as the freshman head coach at Seton High School during the 2022-2024 seasons. Lauren is thrilled to be coaching with Surge again this year and looks forward to working with the 13 Black team. She is excited to share her love of the game, help her players grow in skill and confidence, and create a positive team experience throughout the season!

Kaitlyn is from Louisville, Kentucky, where she played four years of high school volleyball, including two seasons on the varsity team. After high school, she continued her career at Thomas More University, playing four years as a Defensive Specialist while earning her degree in Exercise Science. She is currently continuing her education in Occupational Therapy.
Kaitlyn brings three years of coaching experience to CYVBC Surge. She spent two seasons coaching in the 13s age division at another local club and recently completed her first season as the Head Coach at Covington Latin High School. Kaitlyn is thrilled to be joining Surge for her first season and is excited to lead the 13 Black team. She looks forward to sharing her knowledge, passion, and love for the game with her players this year! |
13 Blue Coach: KayLee Burgess

Coach KayLee joins Surge for her first season and will serve as the head coach for the 13 Blue team. She began playing club volleyball in 7th grade and competed through her senior year, continuing her playing career at the collegiate level at Miami University Hamilton. KayLee played multiple positions throughout her career, spending time as a setter before transitioning to a defensive specialist/libero.
KayLee brings several years of coaching experience at both the club and youth levels, including head coaching older age groups and working with developing athletes. She is known for her active, high-energy coaching style and strong in-the-moment teaching. KayLee emphasizes maintaining a positive team environment, building confidence, and developing strong fundamentals while staying competitive. She values open communication with players and parents and is excited to lead the 13 Blue team through her first season at Surge! |
13 Grey Coach: Natilee Vogt

Natilee is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and a graduate of Colerain High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Miami University.
Natilee began playing volleyball in 6th grade and competed at both the school and club levels throughout high school, including two seasons with CYVBC Surge. She continues to stay active in the sport by playing recreational sand volleyball in both upper and lower leagues. This season, Natilee is excited to return to CYVBC Surge as a coach. She looks forward to meeting her players, developing their volleyball skills, and helping them grow their confidence and love for the game! |

Jessica is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and a 2017 graduate of Oak Hills High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus in Sports Marketing from Thomas More University in 2022, and she is currently pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration.
Jessica brings 9 years of playing experience, including 6 years at the competitive level. She has been part of the Surge family since 2017 and now proudly serves as the Club Director. Over the years, Jessica has coached across multiple leagues and organizations, including OHSAA, OVR, GGCL, CHL, and GWAC. Her coaching background includes serving as the Varsity Assistant Coach at Finneytown High School in 2019, where she helped lead the program to its winningest season in a decade. At Seton High School, Jessica held several roles: Freshman Head Coach (2021 and 2022), Junior Varsity Head Coach (2023 and 2024), and Varsity Assistant Coach (2024). As Club Director, Jessica is excited to continue working with all CYVBC Surge teams alongside the incredible coaching staff. Emma is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and is currently a student at the University of Cincinnati, where she is studying middle school education.
She has been playing volleyball since 4th grade, and in her free time, Emma enjoys playing sand volleyball at Grand Sands in Loveland alongside Coach Adam and her two sisters. As an indoor player, she primarily played setter but gained experience in all positions, giving her a well-rounded perspective that she loves to share with her athletes. This is Emma’s third season with CYVBC Surge and her fifth year coaching overall. She has coached players ages 9-16 and is excited to work with the 14 Blue and 16 Blue teams this season. Emma is passionate about volleyball and looks forward to sharing her knowledge, skills, and love of the game with her players while helping each athlete grow both on and off the court! |
14 Grey Coach: Alayna Groover

Alayna is from Sandusky, Ohio, and has built a strong foundation in both academics and athletics. She earned her degree in Communications from the University of Toledo and later completed her Sports Management degree at Tiffin University.
Her love for volleyball began in 6th grade, where she played for both her school team and the YMCA. As an indoor player, she primarily excelled as a setter, gaining valuable experience that she now brings into her coaching. Alayna is excited to join CYVBC Surge this season and looks forward to working with her players, helping them develop strong fundamentals, confidence, and a love for the game! |

Carly is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and a 2022 graduate of Oak Hills High School, where she played volleyball all four years. She is currently in her fourth year at the University of Cincinnati, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minor in Information Systems.
Carly has played club volleyball for nine seasons, eight of those with CYVBC Surge starting at age 10. She helped lead Surge to two OVR championships in 2017 and 2021 with Coach Natalie West, and with Coach Tim Schloemer as head coach. Now entering her fourth year as a coach with Surge, Carly is excited to continue helping athletes develop their skills, grow their confidence, and enjoy the game. She looks forward to an exciting season with the 14 Black and 15 Black teams and can’t wait to meet all her players!

Natalie is from Ross, Ohio, and a 2022 graduate of Ross High School. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Cincinnati.
Natalie has played volleyball for 10 years, including 8 years at the competitive level, and was a varsity starter throughout all four years of high school. She has been part of CYVBC Surge since 2017, spending six seasons as a player and three seasons as a coach. Entering her fourth season as a Surge coach in 2025, Natalie is excited to help her athletes grow their skills, confidence, and love for the game. She can’t wait for the season to begin! |
15 Blue Assistant Coach: Rebekah Russell

Rebekah grew up in Akron, Ohio and started playing volleyball in 8th grade. She went to Grove City College in Pennsylvania where she earned a bachelors degree in accounting and finance.
She played volleyball all 4 years in college (libero/DS) and continued to play indoor and sand volleyball after college. She’s been coaching for the past 7 years for various age levels and across a few different states! She’s spent the most time coaching freshman girls both for high school season and for club season. Sports and coaching have been a part of her life for as long as she can remember and she is passionate about how competition can equip athletes for the future. This is Rebekah’s first year with CYVBC Surge and she is excited for a great season! |
16 Black Head Coach: T'Keyah Grier

T’Keyah was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and is a triple alumna of the University of Cincinnati, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Science, Master of Public Health, and PhD in Public Health Education. She currently works at UC as a program director and serves as adjunct faculty at the Blue Ash campus.
T’Keyah has been playing volleyball since 6th grade, including three years on her high school varsity team and club volleyball throughout high school and part of college. While she no longer plays competitively, she enjoys the game recreationally in her spare time. This will be her seventh season coaching with CYVBC Surge. She also serves as the JVA Head Coach at Oak Hills High School. T’Keyah is excited to meet all her players this season and looks forward to seeing the growth, teamwork, and success of every team!

Ally is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a 2016 graduate of Oak Hills High School and a 2020 graduate of the University of Cincinnati. She began playing volleyball in 4th grade and continued through high school, spending her freshman and sophomore years on Junior Varsity before starting on Varsity as a setter for both her junior and senior seasons.
Before joining Surge, she coached middle school volleyball for two years at St. Al’s Bridgetown, one year at St. James, and one year at Bridgetown Middle School. She currently serves as the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach at Oak Hills High School. Ally is excited to meet all of the girls and looks forward to another fun and successful season!

Adam Hensley is from Loveland, Ohio, and has been involved in volleyball since 4th grade, including two years playing at Milford High School.
This is Adam’s second year coaching with CYVBC Surge, following experience coaching football and volleyball at the middle school level. In his free time, he enjoys playing sand volleyball with Coach Emma at Grand Sands in Loveland, cheering on his favorite teams—the Bengals (Who Dey!) and UK football—and exploring new places with friends. Adam is a passionate coach who strives to equip his players with skills they can use both on and off the court. He emphasizes overcoming obstacles, working through adversity, and recognizing personal growth throughout the season. Adam is excited to serve as the head coach of 16 Blue and assistant coach for 14 Blue, and he looks forward to a fun, rewarding, and successful season! |

Katlyn is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and a 2018 graduate of Taylor High School. She began her college volleyball career at Thomas More University before transferring to the University of Cincinnati.
Katlyn has played volleyball competitively for 11 years and has been coaching for six. She has spent three years coaching at Taylor High School as the 8th grade coach and currently serves as their varsity assistant. This is her fourth season coaching with CYVBC Surge, and Katlyn is excited to help her athletes grow their skills, build confidence, and enjoy the game. She can’t wait for the season to begin!

Tim is a native of Cincinnati and a University of Cincinnati graduate. He and his wife have been married for over 20 years and have four daughters, all of whom play volleyball. Three of his daughters have played for CYVBC Surge, and his entire family has competed at the club, high school, and college levels.
Tim has over 20 years of experience playing competitive indoor and outdoor volleyball in men’s and coed leagues. He has coached for more than 15 years across multiple leagues, including OHSAA, OVR, GCL, GMC, GWAC, and OHYA. He began as the coordinator and lead coach of the Saint Jude girls volleyball program, overseeing more than 150 players and 15 coaches annually for five years. Tim has been coaching with CYVBC Surge for 10 years, leading teams that consistently place in the top 5 in the OVR and winning multiple OVR Championships in Columbus, Ohio. He has also coached for six years at Saint Xavier High School in the GCL and has experience coaching boys club volleyball. Tim looks forward to another successful season at CYVBC Surge, continuing to help athletes develop their skills, confidence, and love of the game!

Sydney (Coach Syd) was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She began playing volleyball in 4th grade and played for 12 years, 10 of which were at the competitive level.
Sydney earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education Studies with a focus in Teaching and Learning from Wilmington College, where she also played as a starting pin/DS on the volleyball team. This is Coach Syd’s second year with CYVBC Surge and her third year coaching club volleyball. She is excited to meet the players of 17 Blue and work with all Surge athletes, sharing her love of the game and helping each athlete grow in skill, confidence, and teamwork! |
18 Black Coach: Derrik Gouveia

Derrik was born and raised in Rhode Island and has been involved in volleyball his whole life, developing a deep passion for the sport.
He played competitively for six years, including four years in high school and two years at the collegiate level, highlighted by a memorable 2nd place finish in the NECVL. Derrik began his coaching journey with high school teams, coaching both boys and girls for three seasons each, including assisting his 2016 girls varsity team to the Rhode Island D2 State Championships. Derrik’s coaching philosophy centers on effort and mindset, emphasizing the importance of both physical and mental preparation. He is committed to helping his players grow as athletes and individuals, bringing out their best both on and off the court. Derrik looks forward to his third season coaching with CYVBC Surge and to another successful and rewarding season!
