12 Black Coach: Maura HolscherMaura is a 2018 Mother of Mercy High School graduate. She started playing competitively when she was U12 and continued to play through her senior year at Mercy. She started her volleyball career as a libero but became a setter at the age of 16. She enjoys playing competitive sand throughout the summer, participating in multiple leagues a week. She is currently preparing for her fifth and final year as a setter and team captain for UC Clermont. At UCC, her team secured the first seed bid to the national tournament and won the national championship!
As a student at UCC, she is pursuing two degrees: one in Law and one in Criminal Justice. She was an assistant coach for Our Lady of Visitation’s 7th/8th grade B1 team in 2017. This will be her fifth-year coaching with Surge! During her time here, Maura has coached two teams which placed within the top 3 in Gold at the OVR Championship: 14 Grey with 2nd in Gold in 2021 and 13 Grey with 3rd in Gold in 2022. She has loved every minute of her time at Surge and is so excited to coach an American team this year! Her favorite part of coaching is helping the girls develop into great athletes and individuals. |

12 Black Coach: Hannah Ake (Holscher)Hannah is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with BS in Criminal Justice and a MS in IT, where she currently works in IT for Pepsi. Hannah played competitive volleyball for 8+ years and concluded her career with a national championship title with the UC Clermont Women’s Volleyball team in 2021. Hannah also played college volleyball with her sister, Maura, who is a Surge coach as well. Since concluding her college career, Hannah continues to be around volleyball as she plays weekly in recreational/competitive sand volleyball leagues. Hannah has coached volleyball for 5+ years, ranging from grade school to high school levels. Hannah is super excited to meet the team and give them not only lessons to use in volleyball, but also to use in life!

13 Black Coach: Kylee HowardKylee is from Cincinnati, Ohio and is an Oak Hills High School graduate. She is 23 years old and a graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s in Business. She has been playing volleyball since 3rd grade and began playing competitively in 7th grade. She played club volleyball, while also playing at Oak Hills High School. She played on the Junior Varsity team her freshman year and Varsity team her sophomore, junior and senior years.
She is looking forward to her 6th year of coaching with Surge, and especially with 13 Black. Last season, Kylee's team won the national championship for the 12 Girls division at Navy Pier ASICS in Chicago! |

13 Black + 14 Blue Coach: Carly SchloemerCarly is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a 2022 Oak Hills High School graduate, where she played for four years, two on varsity. She is currently pursuing her Accounting degree at the University of Cincinnati. Carly has played volleyball since 2nd grade and began playing competitively in 5th grade, playing at CYVBC Surge for 7 years, where she won 2 OVR Championships with Coach Natalie. Her CYVBC Surge team, 13 Grey, finished second in the OVR last season out of 191 teams! Carly is looking forward to her second year in the coaching role and cannot wait to meet the players on 14 Blue!

14 Black Coach + 15 Black Coach: Jessica SchloemerJessica is from Cincinnati, Ohio and is a 2017 Oak Hills High School graduate. Jessica studied at Thomas More University earning her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, with a focus in Sports Marketing in 2022. She played volleyball for 8 years, playing competitively for 4! She has been with Surge since 2017, and is also the Club Director! Jessica has coached in the OHSAA, OVR, GGCL, CHL, and GWAC. 3 of Jessica’s CYVBC Surge teams have won the OVR Championship: 12 Blue in 2021, 13 Blue and 14 Blue in 2022. Her 14 Black team were the 14-National OVR Runner-Ups and also placed 3rd in GOLD at the USAV Girls Junior National Championships (14 American) in 2023!
She was the varsity assistant coach at Finneytown High School in 2019 and is proud to share that she was apart of a record breaking season with the most wins in 10 years! Jessica was the freshmen head coach at Seton High School in Cincinnati, where she went 40-3. For the second season in a row, the freshmen team won the GGCL league for the regular season. This past school season, Jessica was the Junior Varsity head coach at Seton. JV won the GGCL league! |

15 Black Coach: Kayla SkowronskiKayla is a 2018 graduate from Cincinnati Christian University-where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Sports Management. She is currently working as an instructional aid at Rapid Run Middle School. Kayla previously attended Oak Hills High School, from which she graduated in the class of 2014. Kayla has been playing volleyball competitively since she was 13, and played at Cincinnati Christian University which was an NAIA Division 1 college volleyball program. Kayla played multiple seasons as an outside hitter, and a couple seasons as libero. This is her 9th season coaching with experience at Cincy East, CYVBC Surge, Wyoming High School, and CCU. She is now the head JVA Coach at Oak Hills High School!
In high school, Kayla was 1st team all GMC and 2nd team all-city. In college, Kayla topped her team in digs for two straight seasons. Kayla is a competitive person, but also loves to have fun. She is super excited to see what the future holds. Not only for her personal life, but for her players as a coach, as well! She is excited to be coaching 15 Black, and cannot wait to meet everyone. |

15 Blue Coach: Olivia LangefeldOlivia is from Lawrenceburg, Indiana! She started playing volleyball competitively in seventh grade and played at East Central during high school. She currently plays at UC Clermont and is a senior at UC main campus, studying marketing. She has played nearly every position while in high school and college, so she is excited to develop a variety of skill sets in her team! This year will be her 3rd season coaching at Surge and is looking forward to making it another great one!

15 Grey Coach + 15 Blue Coach: T'Keyah GrierT’Keyah was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She is a triple University of Cincinnati alumna where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Science, Master of Public Health degree, and PhD degree in public health education. She is also currently working at the university as the program director for her organization where she oversees and manages public health education and grant funded projects for health professionals in Ohio. T'Keyah has played volleyball since she was in 6th grade. She played on her high school varsity team for three years and played club volleyball throughout high school and some of college. Although she no longer plays competitively, she still loves to play in her free time and loves coaching volleyball! This will be her 6th season coaching with Surge. She is also the JVB coach at Oak Hills High School with Coach Ally and Coach Kayla! T'Keyah looks forward to meeting all of the players and can’t wait to see what this season holds for all of the teams.

16 Black Coach: Tim SchloemerTim has been married for >20 years with 4 daughters, all whom play volleyball, as well as his wife. All four of his daughters played club volleyball, high school volleyball, and some college volleyball. This includes 3 of his daughters playing for CYVBC Surge at a point in time. He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and a native Cincinnatian. He has been playing in competitive volleyball indoor and outdoor men’s and coed leagues for more than 20 years. Tim has coached in the OHSAA, OVR, GCL, GMC, GWAC, and OHYA leagues for over 15 years. He started as the coordinator and lead coach of the Saint Jude girls volleyball program for 5 years overseeing more than 150 players annually with more than 15 coaches. During that time, while putting that program back on the map, Tim also started a girls indoor summer volleyball league that still competes today. He has been coaching at CYVBC Surge for over 10 years now where his teams have consistently placed in the top 5 in the OVR with his 2017 13-1 team, 2021 12-1 team, 2021 17-1 team, 2022 14-1 team winning the OVR Championships in Columbus, OH. Tim also coached for 6 years at Saint Xavier High School in the GCL where he was on the coaching staff for the 2019 Ohio State DI Championship. In addition, he has also coached boys club volleyball at Cincinnati Attack, CVA, and OPVC. While at OPVC his 17-1 boys club team earned an open bid to qualify for competition at the 2020 USAV National Championship in Reno, NV (which was canceled due to COVID).

16 Blue Coach: Derrik GoueviaDerrik was born and raised in Rhode Island. He has been around volleyball his whole life and has grown a passion for the sport. He has played competitively for 6 years, including 4 years in high school and 2 years at the collegiate level, one of which was a memorable 2nd place finish in the NECVL. His coaching journey began with high school teams, where he coached both boys and girls 3 seasons each - notably, assisting his 2016 girls varsity team to the D2 State Championships. His coaching philosophy centers around effort and mindset, instilling in his players the importance of both physical and mental preparation. Derrik is a competitor and he emphasizes personal development within his teams. He aspires to bring out the best in his players both on and off the court and looks forward to his first season as a Surge coach!

13 Blue Coach + 16 Blue Coach: Lauren ReinhardtLauren is from Cincinnati, OH and went to Oak Hills High School. She started playing volleyball in 3rd grade! Lauren played competitively for 5 years while also playing in high school. She is a graduate from UC with a degree in Business Administration. Lauren is also the freshman head coach at Seton! This is Lauren second season with surge & can’t wait for an amazing season with 13 and 16 Blue!

14 Black Coach + 17 Black Coach: Ally McCarthyAlly is from Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a 2016 graduate from Oak Hills High School and a 2021 graduate from the University of Cincinnati. Ally began playing volleyball when she was in the 4th grade and continued playing throughout high school. During her high school career, Ally played her freshman and sophomore years on Junior Varsity then started on Varsity for her junior and senior seasons as a setter.
Ally’s 15 Blue team won the OVR Championship for the 15-American division in 2022! They also placed 3rd out of 64 teams at the Nike Mideast Qualifier in St.Louis, MO. This will be Ally's 6th year coaching at Surge-she previously coached middle school volleyball for 2 years at St. Al’s Bridgetown, one year at St. James, and one year at Bridgetown Middle School. Currently, Ally is the head varsity volleyball coach for Oak Hills High School. Ally looks forward to meeting all of the girls, and is very excited to have an awesome season! |

13 Grey + 17 Black Coach: Nadine SimkoNadine will be starting her 5th year coaching club and 10th year of coaching volleyball. She is originally from Cleveland but moved here to attend University of Cincinnati where she earned a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish in 2013. She fell in love with the city and decided to call Cincinnati home after graduating. In her free time she plays competitive sand volleyball and has season tickets to FC Cincinnati & UC Football. This will be Nadine’s first year with Surge coaching 13-Grey and assisting 17-Black and she cant wait to see what this next season has in store.

17 Blue Coach: Cara FoylesCara started playing volleyball at a young age and went on to be a 4-year starter in high school in Indiana. She continued playing in college at Cincinnati Christian University where she was also a 4-year starter. Cara was KAIC All Conference all four years, NAIA and NCAA All Region her last 3 years, and NAIA All American her sophomore year. She decided to call Cincinnati home and continued her passion for volleyball through her coaching career, with 2 years as a Varsity Assistant Coach and a year as the JV Coach at Wyoming High School before moving to Ross High School as the current Varsity Head Coach. When Cara is not coaching volleyball she enjoys playing indoor as well as sand and spending quality time with her family. She looks forward to her first year with Surge, especially with 17 Blue!
